Can the admin change the same department default permission of an uploaded file from ‘view’ to ‘read’ with this plugin? It would be unreasonable to switch them all

This plugin was designed to provide the file without any specific permission settings (except admin of course). That could be a good feature though, to add a configuration that allows that default department-perm to be set by the admin. To set all departments to View at the same time: edit the file, choose Departments->Set All Departments To..->Read, then save file.

So I would have to edit the file, choose “Departments->Set All Departments To..->Read” for every single file that a “SimpleUser” uploads? If I have 100 SimpleUsers, all uploading multiple documents, this will be a pain.

In it’s current form, no. But it would be a very simple fix for us to add that feature to it if you think it would make it better. Initially, our thoughts were to have some configurable options with it, but the initial version did not make it out with them.

Okay, thanks. Even though I have not purchased this plugin (yet) can I put this feature request in? We plan to have a small admin to SimpleUser ratio, so not having to manually check read on each file would be a great help. Also, how will I know when/if this feature is added?

If you were to purchase the plug-in, then you would be notified when there is an update. Otherwise, I would suggest watching the plug-in page on our site for a new version. I will be adding this feature soon.

Is it with this plugin possible to create an user who cannot change its own password or even better create an user who doesn’t need a password?

To simplify the user administration we want to create one user for a large number of people that are all in one mail-group; the fact that they can reach the url where we have the opendocman is sufficient to let them read the documents that are accessible to that particular user. By creating only one user for this group we would save ourselves the troubles of having to update the users with any staff change.

If this is not possible is it then possible with this or with another plugin to take the users from ldap directly?
